Robert Dilts on The Millennium Project
The NLP Millennium Project is both the culmination and continuation of a dream that began twenty-five years ago at the UCSC campus in Santa Cruz. That dream was of a global community of people sharing common values, skills and tools to be used in the service of helping people and making the world a better place. Now, more than ever, at the dawn of the twenty-first century, NLP is poised to attain legitimacy and influence as a field. What NLP needs in order to make this final step is the same thing that the world needs—vision and leadership. The new millennium brings truly unprecedented opportunities to promote positive changes in many areas of our lives and to ‘create a world to which people want to belong’.
The NLP Millennium Project has been designed for the next generation of NLP developers, trainers and practitioners. The structure has been set up to offer opportunities for people at all levels of NLP to learn together, grow together and define the future landscape of our field. Judy and I will present our latest developments in such areas as meta-leadership, trans-cultural skills, business coaching, win-win negotiating and high level change (identity and above). There will also be opportunities for committed NLP developers, trainers and practitioners from around the world to meet, discuss issues and collaborate in order to co-create new NLP applications and ways of interacting that will define the future of our field. The ultimate goal of the Millennium Project is to provide people with the skills, support and context to create the next generation of tools that will shape the world for our children and the generations to follow.
We want to attract people who desire to be role models of integrity and leadership for others, and use NLP in order to “walk their talk.” The technological explosion and the emergence of the “knowledge economy” has changed the context in which we live and work, bringing both opportunities and challenges which need to be addressed. The NLP Millennium Project is a chance for people in the global NLP community to rise above petty pessimism and cynicism and to do for NLP what Silicon Valley has done for the business world in the past several years—create a paradigm that is based upon cooperation, belief in abundance and commitment to visions that will change the world.
It has been said that “if the Buddha returned, this time it would be as a group.” I look forward to see what type of wisdom and genius the group mind and team spirit of a committed group of NLP Trainers and Practitioners will create.
