The goal is to raise standards, produce guiding principals and codes of ethics. The purpose is to professionalize the field of NLP and improve the perception of NLP in the society. The beneficial effects of this will be NLP Practitioners will be regarded as valued professionals and recognized as professionals by other professional groups of equal standing. An evidence of these benefits will be that other prof will respect our ethics and standards. At professional meetings, the mention of NLP would be met with curiosity and interest. The benefits can be expected when we have a code of ethics and conduct ourselves in a professional manner. This idea will lead to broader acceptance and elevation of the field of NLP. We want to evolve through time as the gestalt therapists have done, Ericksonian, Adlerian...etc. The overall time frame for reaching the goal is 2001. The chief actors include NLP Training Centers. The steps to reach the goal involve - (a) polling the community. (b) Compiling feedback. (c) acceptance by the majotrity of the NLP Community. An effective ongoing feedback will be acceptance by the NLP community and then other prof groups. I/We will know that the goal has been reached when NLP is viewed by the external community as a professional body. The overall time frame for reaching the goal is 2001. The people most effected by this plan are NLP Trainers, Training Institutes, NLP Practitioners and potiental trainees. Their needs are to be respeced and appreciated for what they offer as professionals. Someone might object to this plan if they percieve competition from other fields or within the community: or feelings of incompetence or inadaquices on the part of practitioners. The present way of doing things preserves individual flexibility. These positive gains will be preserved by flexibility within the framwork of accepted ethics and standards. We would not want to implement this plan if the majority of the community did not want ethical guidelines or standards.
